President - Mahmoud Mahmoud, PhD, PEng, FEC
Mahmoud founded GES Geotech Inc. in May 2003, bringing with him over 21 years of experience in directing and managing the geotechnical and environmental components of large multi-disciplinary projects. Mahmoud's global experience includes projects in Canada, Mexico, the UK, the Persian Gulf and South East Asia. Over the last 30 years Mahmoud has held increasingly senior levels of responsibility in managing and leading teams, initially as project manager then becoming manager of engineering services and geotechnical leader, prior to founding GES.
Notable projects that Mahmoud has had a significant role in managing and directing include the Chek Lap Kok (Hong Kong) airport, the Three Sisters Mountain Village in Canmore, Shell Albian Sands Jackpine Mine in Fort McMurray, Boleo project in Baja Mexico, large scale geophysical investigation in Al Ain, UAE, the hydrogeological investigation for the replacement of a powerhouse for BC Hydro’s John Hart Dam in Campbell River, British Columbia and the project on the Joslyn North Mine for Total E&P in Alberta.
Mahmoud’s related professional activities are varied; he has been a member of APEGA since 1997 and participates in a multitude of activities including being the main presenter of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Ethics Seminar (2008-2016) and a member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Fairness Panel since 2007. He was awarded the Fellowship of Engineers Canada in 2013 and was appointed to represent BC as a director of Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board in 2014. His most recent position as Chair, Environment and Sustainability Committee of Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board, has produced three national guidelines and a White Paper on aspects of environmental and sustainability in the practice of engineering. Mahmoud believes in mentoring the next generation of engineers, and readily shares his knowledge and experience with students and young professionals. He's also known for his passion for incorporating climate change in the practice of engineering.

Senior Geotechnical Specialist - Parviz Kheyruri, MSc
Parviz joined GES Geotech Inc. as a Senior Geotechnical Specialist in 2011, bringing over 35 years of international and Canadian experience in challenging geotechnical design, construction, construction review, and quality assurance. His educational background began with a BSc. in Civil Engineering, followed by two Masters degrees in Soil Mechanics & Foundations and Hydraulic Structures. In addition, he speaks seven different languages, which have been instrumental throughout his career across the world.
Focusing on his work with Port and Breakwater projects, Parviz has completed designs in Iran, Rwanda, Kenya, Russia, Portugal, and the Netherlands, to name a few. He has also been involved in earthquake and site specific response analysis for several projects.
With his broad range of experience, some of Parviz's specialized skills include borehole drilling, shoring, soil testing, and ground improvement techniques. Additionally, he has worked extensively with tunnelling in soft soils and contributed to the geotechnical aspects of large dam developments.

Geotechnical Engineer - Sadaf Sanii, BASc, PEng
Sadaf has been with GES Geotech Inc. since 2011. She was born in Washington, D.C. then raised in Iran and Canada, where she studied Geological Engineering at the University of British Columbia. While working at GES, Sadaf has played an integral role where she is responsible for field review, detailed design work, engineering analysis and reporting. Her diverse range of skills have also lead Sadaf to manage invoicing and to work towards maximizing cost effectiveness for our clients.
